| Commercial Work Should Contribute More to the Faster and Better Social and Economic Development |

Wu Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, gave important instructions at the National Working Conference on Commerce on Jan. 16, stressing that the commercial work should contribute more to push forward the faster and better social and economic development so as to greet the convening of the Party's 17th National Congress with excellent achievements.
Wu Yi Said that in 2006, the national commercial system earnestly carried out the strategic arrangements and various guidelines and policies of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, adhered to the requirements of scientific concept of development and focused on the general situation of national economy so as to give priority to key points and work hard to make various work obtain new progress, to get new breakthrough in key areas and make commercial career step forward to a new stage.
Wu Yi Pointed out that 2007 was the important year in further carrying out the spirit of the concept of scientific development and actively pushed forward the construction of the socialism harmonious society, the national commercial system should earnestly implement the arrangements of Central Economic Work Conference, positively and effectively respond to the new situation and challenges faced by the commercial work and make overall plans on domestic and international markets to do better the promotion work of trade balance and expansion of domestic consumption. The system should maintain practically promoting the construction of domestic trade, enhance the degree of distribution modernization, rectify and regulate the market economic order and do utmost to push forward domestic consumption, should endeavor to optimize the structure of foreign trade, focus on the import of advanced technology, management and overseas talents, should maintain carrying out the strategy of "Going Global", enhance the economic and technical cooperation with other countries, guide and standardize the overseas investment, should insist on the opening-up strategy of mutual benefit and win-win, strengthen multi-lateral trade and economic cooperation and go on pushing forward the FTA construction and settle properly trade frictions.
The National Working Conference on Commerce was held on Jan. 15 and 16 in Beijing, and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai made a work report titled "Focusing on General Situation, Being Pioneering and Enterprising and Realizing Faster and Better Development of China's Commercial Career".
