Mr. Bo Xilai Met Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang

Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai met Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang in Beijing on Dec. 28, exchanging opinions on enhancement of trade and economic exchange and cooperation between Mainland and Hong Kong.

Mr. Donald Tsang said that the trade and economic relations between Mainland and Hong Kong was closer, CEPA and their supplements were implemented smoothly and successfully. Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region thanked the Ministry of Commerce for the efforts and hoped to maintain enriching CEPA with Mainland to further develop the trade and economic cooperation.

Mr. Bo Xilai said that the Ministry would earnestly carry out the requests of the Central Government to maintain support to the economic development of Hong Kong and actively promote the regional trade and economic relations. According to the actual needs of economic development, the Mainland and Hong Kong would actively study further opening up of Mainland to Hong Kong under the CEPA Framework to endeavor to sign new CEPA supplements in 2007, the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
