| Minister Bo Xilai Hoping the Enterprises to Regain New Vitalities |

Ministry of Commerce Holding the Award Ceremony for China Time-honored Brand Enterprises on Dec. 19, Maotai, Quanjude, Wuliangye and Tongrentang etc., totaling 430 enterprises, were awarded China Time-honored Brand" plaques and certificates.
Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai pointed out at the ceremony that to award plaque to China Time-honored Brand enterprises was a measure of the Ministry of Commerce to carry out the spirit of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to expedite the construction of proprietary brands and to push forward the national economic development, a honor of self-initiative innovation and culture inheritance of the enterprises and a symbol that Chinese enterprises undertook more social responsibilities.
Mr. Bo Xilai expressed the expectation of ordinary people to our time-honored brand enterprises few decades ago through an old saying. He said that development of national brands always played an important role in the process of economic development of a country, and the time-honored brand enterprises were the typical, which experienced the development period of Late Period of Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, public-private socialist transformation, socialist planned economy, opening up and reform, went through China's social changes and unrest, and intense market competition, survived and developed with persistence and strong vitality. He stressed that the time-honored brand enterprises could survive because of the favoritism of ordinary people. Chinese commerce would also be enriched owing to so many excellent time-honored brand enterprises.
When referring to the issue of IPR protection, Mr. Bo Xilai pointed out that many European and American developed countries commented negatively on China's work in IPR protection, but today's award activity could make clear to the world that: China always attached importance to brand construction and started several hundreds of years ago. Today, we would do more to create better development environment for the ancient and time-honored brands.
Mr. Bo Xilai explained through data the role of time-honored brand enterprises in national economy and the society. He said that the China time-honored brand enterprises awarded totally provided 120 thousand employment opportunities, and 600 thousand people might get jobs in time-honored brand enterprises all over the nation, the enterprises were making contributions to the construction of a harmonious society in China.
Mr. Bo Xilai said that the Ministry of Commerce now was speeding up the building of public service system to support time-honored brand enterprises to exploit market with relative departments, improving the mechanism of cultural heritage and IPR protection, and taking effective measures to support the reform, financing and credit, talents training and technology innovation to create favorable external environment for the innovation and development of time-honored brand enterprises. Local administrative departments of commerce should enhance the guidance, draft programmer, issue policies and creation of environment to make time-honored brand the key force to enrich people's life, advocate national culture and promote municipal harmonious. China time-honored brand enterprises should take this opportunity to further strengthen the recognition on scientific development, completely excavate the connotation of excellent culture, exploit and develop, and innovate gradually to bring more specialties to the daily life of people.
Mr. Fu Duuxun, General Manager of Nanjing Xinjiekou Department Store Co., Ltd., delivered a speech on behalf of all China Time-honored Brand Enterprises, and expressed the confidence and resolution of the enterprises in succeeding excellent culture in the process of development, enhancing IPR protection and regaining new vitalities in the new era.
At the ceremony, Director of Maotai group, Ji Keliang read the Proposal of Revitalizing China Time-honored Brand Enterprises, calling on time-honored brand enterprises to cherish the honor, advocate culture, manage with sincerity, develop the brand, pay great attention to protection, deepen reform, exploit and innovate, serve the society and make contribution to the national economic development and construction of a harmonious society.
Mr. Zhou Heping, Vice Minister of Ministry of Culture, Mr. Chen Xiaohong, Vice Minister for Public Health, Mr. Shun Anmin, Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government, and Mr. Wei Jianguo, Mr. Jiang Zengwei and Mr. Yi Xiaozhun, Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr. Fu Ziying, Mr. Huang Hai and Mr. Chong Quan, Assistant Minister of Commerce, took part in the ceremony.
